All-on-X Dental Implants in Pennsauken, NJ
All-on-4 and All-on-6 implants replace a full arch of missing or failing teeth with one fixed, permanent set of teeth anchored to as few as four implants. Many patients leave the same visit with a full, functional smile — what we call teeth in a day.

A full new smile, anchored to just a few implants
All-on-X, also called All-on-4 or All-on-6, is full-arch dental implant treatment: a complete row of replacement teeth attached permanently to four, six, or eight implants instead of one implant per missing tooth.
The "X" stands for however many implants your case needs. Some patients qualify for All-on-4, others do better with All-on-6 or All-on-8 depending on jawbone density and how the bite is distributed. Either way, the result is one fixed arch of teeth, not a removable denture.
Not the same as a single-tooth implant. All-on-X is built for patients missing most or all of the teeth in a jaw. If you're only replacing one or two teeth, a standard dental implant is usually the simpler, less invasive option.
Who's a good candidate for All-on-X?
Most patients missing several teeth or an entire arch, or wearing a denture they don't love, are worth evaluating. A few signs point strongly toward All-on-X.
What happens if missing teeth go untreated?
The jawbone that used to support your teeth starts to shrink once that stimulation is gone. That changes your bite, your facial shape, and eventually your options for replacement. The longer an arch goes without teeth, the more bone tends to disappear, which is one reason many patients choose All-on-X while there's still enough bone left to work with.
Does it matter how many implants you get?
It depends on your jawbone and your bite. Both options give you one fixed arch of teeth — the difference is in support and distribution.
All-on-4
- Four implants placed strategically, often angled in back to use available bone
- Can sometimes avoid bone grafting altogether
- A well-established, heavily studied approach
All-on-6
- Six implants spread the bite force across more points
- Often recommended for a lower arch handling heavier chewing forces
- Extra implants can add long-term support and security
What actually happens at your appointment
Here's what a typical All-on-X visit looks like from start to finish.
Consultation and CBCT scan — a 3D scan of your jaw checks bone volume and maps exactly where implants should go.
Numbing or sedation — local anesthesia numbs the area, and sedation dentistry is available for a more relaxed visit.
Extractions, if needed — any remaining failing teeth in the arch are removed the same day.
Implant placement — four, six, or eight implants are placed directly into the jawbone.
Same-day temporary teeth — a temporary full-arch prosthesis is attached the same day, so you leave with a functional set of teeth.
Healing and final prosthesis — over the following months the implants fuse with the bone, then we fit your final, permanent prosthesis.
Most patients leave the same day with a temporary set of teeth that looks and functions like a full smile. The final prosthesis usually follows a few months later, once the implants have fully healed.
Two ways to replace a full arch of teeth
A fixed implant-supported arch tends to outperform a removable denture on comfort and function. Dentures still have their place, but they come with more day-to-day tradeoffs.
All-on-X Implants
- Fixed in place, doesn't shift or slip while eating or talking
- Bite force close to natural teeth
- Helps preserve jawbone instead of letting it shrink
- No adhesives, no soaking, no taking it out at night
Traditional Dentures
- Removable, needs adhesive to stay put
- Bite force is a fraction of natural teeth
- Jawbone keeps shrinking underneath it over time
- Lower upfront cost than implant-supported options
Are there alternatives? Sometimes a partial denture or single-tooth implants make more sense, depending on how many teeth you're missing and how much bone you have. That's exactly what a consultation is for.
What actually changes after All-on-4?
Patients typically go from a failing, painful, or missing dentition to a full, fixed arch of teeth in a single visit. Beyond the obvious cosmetic change, most people notice they can chew normally again, their speech clears up if a loose denture had been affecting it, and their face regains support that a sunken jaw or ill-fitting denture can take away. Full results, including how the gum tissue settles around the new teeth, become clearest a few months after the final prosthesis is placed.
How do you clean All-on-4 implants?
Not that differently from natural teeth, just with a few extra tools. Because the prosthesis is fixed, cleaning underneath it takes a bit more attention than brushing alone.
Do
- Brush morning and night with a soft brush
- Use a water flosser or interdental brush under the prosthesis
- Rinse daily to keep the gum tissue around the implants healthy
- Keep up with cleanings and checkups every six months
Don't
- Skip cleaning under the arch just because it's fixed in place
- Use hard-bristled brushes or abrasive whitening pastes
- Ignore soreness, swelling, or a prosthesis that feels loose
- Smoke — it slows healing and raises implant-failure risk
What full mouth dental implants cost
Cost depends on how many implants you need, whether extractions or bone grafting come first, and which arch, or both, you're treating. All-on-X is a bigger investment than a single implant or a denture, but it's also a permanent, fixed solution rather than something you reline or replace every few years. Questions about All-on-X implants
What is All-on-4 dental implants?
All-on-4 is a full-arch tooth replacement that anchors an entire row of fixed replacement teeth to four dental implants, instead of placing one implant per missing tooth.
How much do full mouth dental implants cost?
It depends on how many implants you need, whether you need extractions or bone grafting first, and whether you're treating one arch or both. We accept most major insurance and offer payment plans — ask us for a specific estimate.
What does "teeth in a day" mean?
It means many patients leave their All-on-X appointment the same day with a temporary, fixed, fully functional set of teeth, while the implants heal underneath before the final permanent prosthesis is placed.
All-on-4 vs All-on-6 — what's the difference?
Both replace a full arch with a fixed prosthesis. All-on-4 uses four implants, often angled to work with limited bone. All-on-6 spreads the bite across two more implants, which some patients, especially on the lower arch, benefit from.
How do you clean All-on-4 implants?
Brush twice a day with a soft brush, and use a water flosser or interdental brush to clean underneath the fixed prosthesis. Regular checkups every six months help catch any issues early.
Am I a candidate for All-on-X?
If you're missing most or all of your teeth in a jaw, or you're unhappy with a removable denture, you're worth evaluating. You'll need enough jawbone to anchor the implants, which we check with a CBCT scan.
Is the All-on-X procedure painful?
You're numbed with local anesthesia during placement, and sedation dentistry is available if you'd like it. Some soreness and swelling for several days afterward is normal and manageable with the pain relief we recommend.
How long do All-on-4 implants last?
The implants themselves can last decades, often a lifetime, with good care. The prosthesis on top may need adjustment or replacement after a decade or more of wear.
What's the difference between All-on-X and regular dental implants?
A regular dental implant replaces one missing tooth. All-on-X replaces an entire arch of teeth using just a handful of implants, which makes it the option for patients missing most or all of their teeth rather than one or two.
Do you accept insurance for All-on-X implants?
Yes, we accept most major dental insurance plans and offer payment plans through CareCredit and Lending Club. Implant coverage varies by plan, so we'll help you find out what's covered.
