Emergency Dentist Near Me in Pennsauken, NJ
A broken tooth or sudden toothache doesn't wait for a convenient time, and neither should you. AZ Dental Spa provides same-day appointments for dental emergencies whenever possible, so call us first and we'll tell you exactly what to do next.

Fast help for the tooth problem that can't wait
Emergency dental care is treatment for sudden, urgent dental problems, the kind that show up with no warning and are too painful or too risky to sit on until your next cleaning. We provide same-day appointments for dental emergencies whenever possible.
You don't need to diagnose yourself before you call. Tell us what happened and what you're feeling, and we'll help you figure out how urgent it is and get you seen as quickly as we can.
If you're in pain right now: rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek, and call (856) 661-9191. We'll take it from there.
What actually counts as a dental emergency?
The most common ones we see are broken or chipped teeth, severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, and abscesses or infections. A few other situations are worth a same-day call too.
Not sure it's an emergency? Call anyway.
You don't have to be certain before you pick up the phone. A dull ache that's been building for days is different from a tooth that's throbbing tonight, but both are worth a call. We'd rather hear about it and tell you it can wait than have you sit on something that gets worse. Describing what you feel is usually enough for us to tell you what to do next.
First-aid steps while you get to us
These are general first-aid steps for the most common emergencies. They're not a substitute for treatment, just a way to protect the tooth and manage things until we can see you.
Broken or chipped tooth
Rinse with warm water and save any pieces you can find. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to keep swelling down, and avoid chewing on that side until we see you.
Severe toothache
Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently in case something's trapped between your teeth. An over-the-counter pain reliever helps, but never place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth.
Knocked-out tooth
Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently without scrubbing, and if you can, tuck it back into the socket. Otherwise keep it moist in milk or saliva and get to us within the hour.
Lost filling or crown
Keep the crown if you have it. Temporary dental cement or even sugar-free gum can cover the tooth for a day or two. Avoid chewing on that side and call us to get it re-seated.
Abscess or infection
Rinse with warm salt water a few times a day, but don't wait it out. An abscess needs professional treatment and can spread if it's left alone, so call us right away.
What helps (and what makes it worse)
A few small choices between now and your appointment can make a real difference in how much it hurts.
Do
- Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed
- Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek
- Rinse gently with warm salt water
- Stick to soft foods and chew on the other side
Don't
- Place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth
- Use superglue or household cement on a broken tooth
- Apply heat to a swollen area
- Wait it out and hope the pain fades on its own
What happens when you call or arrive
Here's what actually happens once you reach out.
You call us — describe what happened and how it feels. We'll assess the urgency over the phone.
We find you a same-day slot — whenever possible, urgent cases get worked into the schedule ahead of routine visits.
Exam and digital X-ray — a quick look tells us exactly what's wrong and how to fix it.
Pain relief first — stopping the pain and stabilizing the tooth comes before anything else.
A clear plan — we treat what we can that same visit and explain what, if anything, needs a follow-up appointment.
Call as early in the day as you can. It gives us the best chance of finding you a same-day slot.
Same-day, not overnight — here's the honest version
We want to set the right expectation before you head over, so there are no surprises.
Call before you come
It only takes a minute and lets us hold a same-day slot for you. Calling ahead beats a walk-in wait almost every time.
We're not open 24 hours
We provide same-day appointments for dental emergencies whenever possible, but we're not an overnight clinic. If it's after hours, leave a message and call back first thing.
Genuine emergencies after hours
Uncontrolled bleeding, facial trauma, or trouble breathing needs the ER or 911, not a dental office, no matter what time it is.
When to call us and when to go to the ER
Most dental emergencies are ours to handle. A small number need a hospital instead, and it's worth knowing the difference.
Call Us
- Broken or chipped tooth
- Severe toothache
- Knocked-out tooth
- Lost filling or crown
- A contained infection or abscess
Go to the ER
- Bleeding that won't stop with pressure
- Facial trauma with a possible fracture
- Trouble breathing or swallowing
- Swelling spreading toward the eye or neck
- High fever along with facial swelling
What emergency dental care costs
Cost depends on what's actually wrong: a chipped tooth is a different fix than an infected one. A same-day exam and X-ray usually gives us a clear answer fast. No insurance? That's fine, plenty of our emergency patients don't have it. We accept most major dental insurance and offer payment plans through CareCredit and Lending Club, so cost shouldn't be the reason you put off care.
Payment plans also available through CareCredit & Lending Club.

Questions about emergency dental care
What counts as a dental emergency?
The most common ones we see are broken or chipped teeth, severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, and abscesses or infections. If you're in pain or a tooth is damaged and you're not sure it can wait, call us and we'll help you figure out what to do.
Do you offer same-day emergency appointments?
Yes. We provide same-day appointments for dental emergencies whenever possible. Call as early in the day as you can so we have the best chance of working you in.
Are you a walk-in emergency dentist?
Call first if you're able to. It only takes a minute, and it lets us prepare for your visit and hold a same-day slot open for you. If you truly can't call ahead, come in and our team will do what they can to fit you in.
Are you open right now?
The fastest way to find out is to call (856) 661-9191. If it's during business hours, we'll try to get you in the same day. If you reach voicemail, leave a message with a callback number and we'll follow up as soon as we're open.
Are you open 24 hours?
No, we're not a 24-hour clinic. What we do offer is same-day appointments for dental emergencies whenever possible during business hours. If you're dealing with a true medical emergency after hours, such as uncontrolled bleeding or trouble breathing, go to the emergency room or call 911.
What if I don't have dental insurance?
That's fine, plenty of our emergency patients don't. We accept most major dental insurance plans, and if you're uninsured we offer payment plans through CareCredit and Lending Club so cost isn't a reason to put off care.
What should I do with a knocked-out tooth?
Pick it up by the crown, not the root, and rinse it gently without scrubbing. If you can, try tucking it back into the socket. If not, keep it moist in milk or saliva and get to us within the hour. Time matters a lot with a knocked-out tooth.
What should I do about a severe toothache?
Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently in case something's trapped between your teeth. An over-the-counter pain reliever can take the edge off, but don't place aspirin directly against the gum or tooth. Then call us.
How much does emergency dental care cost?
It depends on what's wrong and what it takes to fix it. A same-day exam and X-ray is often all it takes to know. We accept most major insurance and offer CareCredit and Lending Club payment plans, so ask us for a real number before you commit to anything.
When should I go to the ER instead of calling you?
Go to the emergency room or call 911 for uncontrolled bleeding, facial trauma with a possible fracture, trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling that's spreading toward your eye or neck. For everything else, a broken tooth, toothache, knocked-out tooth, lost filling or crown, or a contained infection, call us.
What if I lost a filling or crown?
Hang onto the crown if you have it. A dab of temporary dental cement (available at any drugstore) or even sugar-free gum can cover the tooth for a day or two. Avoid chewing on that side and call us to get it properly re-seated.
Can a broken or chipped tooth wait until a regular appointment?
Sometimes, if it's a small chip with no pain. But if there's pain, a sharp edge, or the break exposes the inside of the tooth, don't wait, since the tooth is more exposed to infection the longer it goes untreated. When in doubt, call us and describe it.
